Just A Little Warmer

Standing in the corner

Watching everything move by

The colors of many hearts

The masks on many faces

Some stand out than others

Yet all too difficult to remember

The walls are warmer here

Because no moment lingers long

To crystallize into memories

No picture lives forever

I remember once seeing your face

But the seasons don’t change here

it’s impossible to see through ice

And I can’t make you out anymore

Several eyes looked my way today

But none looked long enough

For me to get lost in them

I doubt I may ever find you

But if someone will hold my gaze

For just a little longer

Then that will be you

Warmer than these corners.

Wing Stubs

This was where you first bled

This was where you first cried

Where blood first mixed with water

and irons crystallized into bars

that held you caged

You who was once a bird

you who once flew farther than the clouds

Held down by regrets

and illusions of scars sticking out

from where wings used to be

You who once braved the night

and burned brighter than fireflies

clinging to memories of iron and salt

finding solace in the dark

Ashamed of the light

and afraid to trust the wind

anymore with your secrets.

GIFT OF LOVE

Come out of the shadows

Child of these dark times.
Bask in this heavenly glow;
the hour of salvation chimes

Curb the anxiety within you;
quiet the desires that dance.
Gift of a lover who is true;
chance on an eternal romance.

Tune out the noise around;
silence the many voices.
Celestial sounds abound;
in solitude make your choices.

Angels are here to lift you up
To a place where dwells no hate
A city for gods found on no map
awaits you beyond a pearly gate.

KNOWING ME

I really don’t think I’m rare.

I believe there are many like me out there.
But I’m not your usual breed either:
I’m not an option for you to consider.

Don’t try to label me;
my heart is bare so look no further.
If the past will never leave you be
I’m not an option for you to consider.

I’ll build my world around you:
rip the menu – make me your order.
If you’re not satisfied with two,
I’m not an option for you to consider.

One eye, halfheartedly, peers into several holes;
my light sullied – lumped with many shiny souls.
If you expect me to wait in line forever,
I’m not an option for you to consider.

For love I always give my all
– you’d rather sift, stall and not fall.
Forever can be you and me together
if I’ll be the only option you consider.
